Ishibutai Kofun Tumulus

This gigantic tomb is believed to be the burial site of Soga no Umako, who worked with Empress Suiko and Prince Umayato in building a nation. This is an unusual kofun in that all the earth that once covered the stone chamber has eroded over time to expose the gigantic ceiling stones. Walk inside the tomb and be overwhelmed by the size of these rocks!
