Japan HeritageFukada-ike Pond
This is believed to be the same pond that was once known as Unebi-ike—one of nine irrigation ponds commissioned by Empress Suiko in the Yamato and Kawachi areas. These ponds were important sources of water used to sustain the rice farming that helped to boost the prosperity of her realm. A boardwalk alongside Fukada-ike invites you to take a leisurely stroll while gazing at the open expanse of water. You can also experience seasonal changes reflected in nature, in the form of cherry blossoms, water lilies, or wild birds.
